APPLES FOR ROSH HASHANA

RECIPE FOR 6-8 APPLES

DOUGH:

4 C FLOUR
2 TBSP SUGAR
200 GR MARGARINE
2 EGGS
PINCH OF SALT

INSIDE APPLE:

50 GR MARGARINE SOFTENED
¼ C SUGAR
½ tsp CINNAMON
1 tsp VANILLA
TOP:

EGG WASH
POWDERED SUGAR OR CINNAMON

VANILLA SAUCE:

4 EGG YOLKS
¾ C SUGAR
2 C MILK OR SUBSTITUTE
1 VANILLA bean OR 1-1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

  1. peel and core apples (try and save the stem of the apple)
  2. Fill inside of apple with a few tsp margarine mixture
  3. roll out dough. Cut large circles and smaller circles of dough.
  4. place the apple in center of large circle. Wrap apple and cover with smaller circle.
  5. replace stem to dough covered apple.
  6. let sit in refriderator while complete tray.
  7. brush with egg wash and shake either powdered sugar or cinnamon\
  8. bake for 1 hr (approx)
  9. serve warm with vanilla sauce

Talie’s easy no-bake Cream and Biscuit Cake

2 TBSP Coffee
1 1/4 C vanilla soy milk
chocolate biscuits

Mix the above ingredients together

whip for a while until almost stiff:
2 small or 1 large riches whip
2 cups soy milk
1 1/2 packages vanilla pudding

layer:
biscuits + brush with soy milk mixture
cream
biscuits + brush with soy milk mixture
cream
biscuits and soy / chocolate mixture

take the remaining soy milk mixture add chocolate chips (1/2 to 3/4 of a package) and melt on the flame

EASY Volcano Cake (warm chocolate cake)

Easy warm chocolate cake

for 8 muffins (I double or make 4 times the recipe)

5-6 oz (175 gr) dark chocolate
6 TBSP (80 gr) margarine
1/2 C Sugar
2 eggs
1/2 C flour

preheat oven to 200 C
line muffin tins with liners
melt chocolate and margarine in a double boiler
take off flame, add sugar
add eggs
add flour

pour into cups (most of the way full)
bake 15 minutes, center soft, outside cooked

freezes well both before and after baking.

Delicious salad dressing

1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp yellow mustard
1 clove garlic
1/4 C olive oil
1/5 C white vinegar
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
2 TBSP date syrup

2 chickens
2 C ketchup
1/2 C brown sugar
8 oz can of pineapple
2 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C strong coffee

marinate chicken in the sauce overnight
bake 1 3/4 hours – 2 hours.
freezes well both before and after cooking

Sara Augenbraun’s Apple-Pomegranate Salad

This salad has many of the Simanim in it- enjoy!

Combine:

1 head of butter lettuce, torn into bite size pieces (or any kind)
1 bunch of Spinach, stems removed, bite sized pieces
Seeds of 1 Rimon
½ cup toasted pumpkin seeds
½ each of a red, yellow & green apple, cubed
8 pitted dates, cut in ¼ inch rings

Dressing:

2 Tbsps white wine vinegar
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 Tbsp leek (white parts only), minced
½ tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp garlic powder
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
¼ cup safflower oil (I use canola)

Whisk together and pour over salad and toss.

Serves 6
