APPLES FOR ROSH HASHANA

RECIPE FOR 6-8 APPLES
DOUGH:
4 C FLOUR
2 TBSP SUGAR
200 GR MARGARINE
2 EGGS
PINCH OF SALT
INSIDE APPLE:
50 GR MARGARINE SOFTENED
¼ C SUGAR
½ tsp CINNAMON
1 tsp VANILLA
TOP:
EGG WASH
POWDERED SUGAR OR CINNAMON
VANILLA SAUCE:
4 EGG YOLKS
¾ C SUGAR
2 C MILK OR SUBSTITUTE
1 VANILLA bean OR 1-1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- peel and core apples (try and save the stem of the apple)
- Fill inside of apple with a few tsp margarine mixture
- roll out dough. Cut large circles and smaller circles of dough.
- place the apple in center of large circle. Wrap apple and cover with smaller circle.
- replace stem to dough covered apple.
- let sit in refriderator while complete tray.
- brush with egg wash and shake either powdered sugar or cinnamon\
- bake for 1 hr (approx)
- serve warm with vanilla sauce
